BENT FREQUENCY PRESENTS CONCUSSION: June 5th, 3-7pm, at The
Contemporary (http://www.thecontemporary.org) You will not want to miss the thrilling conclusion to Bent Frequency’s enthusiastically lauded inaugural season. Dubbed by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution as “…a suddenly indispensable part of Atlanta’s music scene” (05/14/03), Bent Frequency presents CONCUSSION, a daylong celebration of CREATION through the DESTRUCTION of a contact-mic-riddled car by sledgehammers, baseball bats and other implements. The DEMOLITION itself will be carried out by those in attendance, who will be encouraged to step up and play the 2-ton vehicle as a percussion instrument. These attacks will be amplified, recorded, processed, and played back live as an interactive musical performance. Recordings of the destruction will also serve as the basis for a future composition by our own Nickitas J Demos. Throughout the chaos, Bent Frequency will choreograph Atlanta-area musicians from all over the musical map (improvisers, classical musicians, electronic composers, etc.), as well as visual artists (videographers, welders, etc.) to react, in real-time, to both the bang and clangs of the destruction AND the music that will be going on all around them. Although the event will revolve around the destruction of an unsuspecting auto, the final product will be a 3+ hour spontaneous composition of creative collaboration between Atlanta's various, fragmented art/music/technology communities.
